About Special Olympics Virginia - Area 8

 Area 8 is one of 32 Special Olympics Area programs across the Commonwealth of Virginia. Area 8 is made up of athletes and volunteers from across Botetourt, Craig, Franklin, and Roanoke counties as well as the cities of Roanoke and Salem. With over 100 athletes, Area 8 offers year-round sports training and athletic competitions in basketball, bowling, soccer, softball, swimming, track and field, volleyball, and cheerleading for people with intellectual disabilities. Every year, we seek to expand our offerings and athlete base, but doing so is not possible without the support of our volunteers and donors.
